If you haven't checked out this great little shop in Camp Douglas, WI, you are missing out. Yes, there is an entire little town behind that beautiful bluff you see on I90 between Tomah and Wisconsin Dells! And The Avant-Garde Oil Enthusiast & Health Motivator may be the best thing there. (Though that little lunch shop on the corner is a close second, and Camp Douglas is home to the very important Juneau County Economic Development Corp JCEDC!)
This shop is run by Katie Kopplin, a local champion for Camp Douglas and Juneau County. About eight years ago, she started dabbling in essential oils to help her dad alleviate some of his Parkinson symptoms and now creates products for us all. She really knows her stuff. I learn something new every time I go in there.
With products from goat milk lotion, to custom-made repurposed clothing, to crystals and healing jewelry, it's hard to choose my favorite. So, here are 5 things you are going to want to try:
A Healthy Deodorant
If you are trying to avoid blocking your sweat glands and would rather tackle the odor-causing bacteria, this is the deodorant for you, even if you have sensitive skin. This deodorant is made with no aluminum, parabens, or preservatives. Katie says she gets a ton of compliments on this product, and I can see why. It works, and it smells so good!
African Black Soap Face & Body Wash
This soap is an all-natural skin and body cleanser that is great for all skin types. It helps reduce fine lines and signs of aging. It has antibacterial properties that are an effective aid against several strains of fungus.
A custom mix from the bath soak station
The bath soak station has over 20 ingredients to choose from; herbs, dried flowers, salts, and minerals, and cute containers to put them in. It's hard to make only one.
A Katie original, custom-made essential oil blend
Katie has done a ton of research (her dad was a Science teacher, so she knows what's she's doing). She will make a custom oil blend for you! Some of the custom blends she has ready and waiting are for energy, anxiety, Parkinson's, Cancer, Arthritis, MS, PMS, Menopause, anti-aging, allergies, kids, ADHD, and even some for pregnant and nursing moms.
Magnesium spray oil blend for aches and pains
To get a bit technical, Katie tells me that putting this spray oil right on your skin at the problem area is the best way to get the magnesium delivered to your body at a cellular level. And because it's already in its liquid ionic state, there is no need for the body to process it.
